The other day, the internet blew up when Eddie Murphy allegedly took to Twitter and hinted to the world that a remake of Coming To America was on his mind. The Tweet which is now deleted along with Murphy’s account had everyone speaking on if the 1988 classic should get another installment. It appeared that about 50% of the people online were down for a sequel while the rest was cool without one. Now there were some who even thought Murphy probably didn’t even Tweet it to begin with, and it turns out they were right. Murphy’s daughter Bria went on to clear the air about the Tweet when she shared a text conversation she had with her father about it. In the response you can clearly see Eddie deny even knowing he had a Twitter.
Now TMZ has even stepped in on the story and seem to agree that the Tweet may not have come from Murphy but the Coming To America talks are real. Only time will tell if Semi and Akeem will make return in the coming years. We recently ran into Justin Hires of CBS’s MacGyver and he knew pretty early that Murphy probably didn’t tweet about Coming To America 2. Below.
